Dr. Akhter has over twenty-one years of experience in teaching, research, and services. He held several top academic and administrative positions in universities in the U.S. UAE and Saudi Arabia. He has a Ph.D. inComputing Informatics from the University of Bradford, UK, an MBA from Lindenwood University, U.S. and BSc in MIS from the University of Missouri, St. Louis, USA.
Although a U.S. citizen, he has lived and worked in three countries and visited twenty-six countries on five continents related to scholarly activities. He has participated and integrated within diverse cultures, disseminated knowledge and gained valuable work experience in pluralistic societies.
Dr. Akhter has taught information systems and MIS courses to multicultural students at undergraduate, postgraduate and Ph.D. levels at Colgate University (NY), Baruch College (NY), Zayed University (Dubai) and King Saud University (Riyadh). He has served in diverse academic committees, including accreditation, academic affairs, faculty affairs, and research. He is a seasoned campaigner in the development and management of accreditation mechanisms. Dr. Akhter has published research articles in refereed journals, edited book chapters and conference proceedings and Chaired conferences in Brazil, China, Spain, Austria, Australia, USA, UK, South Korea and UAE.
