Dr Farid has over 20 years’ experience in developing advanced automated systems for Biotech and Biomedical applications. He received his PhD in Micro-Engineering from the Swiss Federal Institute of Technology in Lausanne (EPFL) in 2003. He has a broad technical and scientific knowledge in the areas of MEMS (Micro Electro Mechanical Systems) and NEMS (Nano Electro Mechanical Systems) with a track record in both academic and industry related projects. He has authored and co-authored several patents, peer reviewed journal papers, and several innovations for projects funded by the Scottish government, under Scottish Enterprise (Scotland UK).

In 2011, he was Finalist at the UK-wide Royal Academy of Engineering competition, which rewards innovation that impacts on the UK economy. He was also Co-Founder of Accufluidics Ltd., a company that specializes in Microfluidics for Biotech and Biomedical applications. Among other achievements, Dr Farid has held the very prestigious Enterprise Fellowship with the Royal Society of Edinburgh (RSE) in 2011.
