As a lecturer of German language and DAAD lecturer at Alfaisal University, Maren-Sophie El-Tayeb has dedicated her career not only to teaching the German language but also to promoting the German higher educational system.

With a deep passion for sociolinguistics, Maren-Sophie El-Tayeb explores the complex ways in which language, social structures and cultural practices impact each other. As a proponent of language empowerment, Maren-Sophie El-Tayeb goes beyond the traditional role of a language lecturer. She believes that language learning is not just about acquiring grammar rules and vocabulary, but also about understanding the social and historical contexts in which a language is spoken. Through her innovative teaching methods, she encourages her students to not only become proficient in German but also to critically examine the power dynamics embedded within language use.

In her current research, Maren-Sophie El-Tayeb examines power dynamics in different language-learning settings in Germany and Saudi Arabia with a closer look at concepts of language policies and language ideologies.
