Dr Aljada is currently serving as a Professor of Biochemistry and Molecular Medicine at Alfaisal University. Dr Aljada has previously served as a Professor of Biochemistry at King Saud Bin Abdulaziz University for Health Sciences (KSAU-HS) -College of Medicine since September of 2010, and a Research Scientist at King Abdullah International Medical Research Center until January 2019. He completed his bachelor and master degrees in the department of Clinical Laboratory Science, State University of New York at Buffalo and his Ph.D. in the department of biochemistry at Roswell Park Cancer Institute, Buffalo, NY. Following the completion of his Ph.D., he worked as an assistant professor in the Department of Medicine at State University of New York at Buffalo and served as the associate director of the Diabetes-Endocrinology Center of Western New York Cellular and Molecular Research Laboratories in Buffalo, New York. Then he served as the assistant director of the Pharmaceutical Research Institute (PRI) at Albany College of Pharmacy, New York and then as an associate professor of biomedical sciences at Long Island University in New York for 3 years.
Dr. Aljada’s research has focused on the understanding of the pathogenesis of insulin resistance and its associated complications at the cellular and molecular levels. His recent research focuses on understanding the mechanisms of stress induced premature senescence (SIPS). Dr. Aljada has published more than 100 peer-reviewed publications. He has a US patent (USPTO: US20160208337A1-United States) related to the quantification of Lamin C and Lamin A for tumor classification. Dr Aljada won the 7th Annual Research Award on 2014 at King Abdullah International Medical Research Center (KAIMRC). Dr Aljada was also chosen as the “Outstanding Researcher of the Year (2005) at State University of New York At Buffalo” by the Research Foundation-State University of New York at Buffalo.
