Dr Alem graduated with an MBBS degree with a great passion for clinical pharmacology. To prepare for that role, she enrolled first in a diploma degree in internal medicine to prepare for MSc and PhD degrees in Cardiovascular Pharmacology. Such path ended with Membership of the Royal College of Physicians (UK) in internal medicine. That scientific background gave her a solid foundation for teaching pharmacology to all health disciplines with a clinical approach. She has 17 years of teaching experience with traditional and problem-based approaches to undergraduate and postgraduate students. She had the privilege to establish Doctor of Pharmacy program at Alfaisal University that started in 2016-2017, and graduated 4 batches. Her research experience involves clinical studies focusing on cardiovascular risk factors with a special focus on arterial stiffness assessed non-invasively via Shygmocardiography. Other areas of interest include inter-related pathological processes such as endothelial dysfunction, left ventricular hypertrophy, and oxidative stress.
