Yaseen Bokhari is a Lecturer of Biotechnology and Microbiology at the College of Pharmacy, Alfaisal University.  Bokhari holds two master degrees from Flinders University, South Australia.  The most recent one was a Master of Science by research through which the impacts of some commercial pesticides and their active ingredients on the human skin were investigated. The other one was a Master of Biotechnology Studies which ended up with a project assessing the potential cytotoxicity of bioremediated soil that was contaminated by polyaromatic hydrocarbons.

 

As a faculty member, he takes part in teaching undergraduate courses, including Microbiology (MIC 243) and Advance Microbiology (MIC 354).

 

Bokhari’s research interests and areas of expertise fall within the major chronic health problems with a focus on studying the genotoxic and cytotoxic effects and mechanisms of products that local people are exposed to them on daily basis.

Advanced Microbiology

In this course, students learn about the indications, approaches, equipment and agents utilized for cleaning, sterilization and disinfection processes in the healthcare setting as well as in industrial pharmaceutical settings.  They will begin to understand the criteria for selecting and monitoring the usefulness of the agents, equipment and monitoring approaches used for sterilization & disinfection.  The course will also address approaches to infection control practices in the community with special emphasis on community pharmaceutical practices.

Microbiology

This course will provide the students with a basic understanding of modern medical and general microbiology with emphasis on role of microorganisms in human health and disease.
