Ovidiu Constantin Baltatu, MD, PhD, is an accomplished scientist, educator, and leader with extensive international experience in academic medicine, biotechnology, and pharmaceutical R&D.   • Academic Leadership: Served on the Medical School Board at Anhembi Morumbi University, as Assistant Dean of Biotechnology, Khalifa University (UAE), providing strategic direction on intellectual property and technology commercialization. Led curriculum development for research, technology, and innovation within the Medical Colleges. Spearheaded Institutional Review Boards (IRBs) in Brazil and the UAE.
  • Technology & Innovation: Headed the Technology & Innovation Center at CITE, São José dos Campos Technology Park (Brazil), supporting 30+ medical and healthcare technology startups and fostering collaborations between academia, industry, and government.
  • Biopharmaceutical R&D: Held senior research and leadership positions at Speedel (Switzerland) and The Medicines Company (MDCO) (Germany, USA, Canada). Led the translational R&D of Aliskiren, the first direct renin inhibitor, at Speedel, including IND submissions, clinical trial design, and execution. At MDCO, spearheaded research on novel serine protease inhibitors, overseeing preclinical and clinical studies, scientific medical support, licensing and strategic partnerships.
