Research Interests:
Statistical inference using the likelihood approach (book).
Neuroscience:  Transmission mechanisms in somatosensory pathways, with specific attention to excitatory amino acid receptors and potassium channels. Electrophysiological methodology in the primary somatosensory (barrel) cortex of the rat and using an in vitro isolated rat vibrissa preparation.
I am currently collaborating with Dr S. Senok, College of Medicine, Alfaisal University, Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, and with Dr Guy Bewick, School of Medical Sciences, University of Aberdeen and Dr Bob Banks, School of Biological and Biomedical Sciences, Durham University.

The role of potassium channels in mechanotransduction in slowly adapting mechanoreceptors.
