Dr. Smolarski has a Ph.D. in Accounting from the University of North Texas and has published over 30 articles in Review of Accounting & Finance, Journal of Accounting and Finance, Accounting & Finance and Asian Accounting Review and many others. Most recently, he was the Chair of the Department of Accounting and Business Law at the University of Texas Pan American and he was previously the Chair of the Finance Department, Associate Dean and Chief Academic Officer at Stockholm University School of Business. He also held an Endowed Chair, was appointed Eminent Scholar in Italy and was the Country President (Sweden) of the European Council of Small Businesses. Prior to joining academia, he was the Chief Executive Officer of Trema Treasury Management, a global mid-sized risk management software firm and has worked for several global firms such as Halliburton, Coca-Cola and Astra-Zeneca where he held numerous management positions. His consulting clients included 3i, Eqvitec Partners, Telia Ventures, Norsk Vekst (publ) AS, Ericsson (publ) AB, Kabi-Fresenius (Germany), Umicore (Belgium), China Mobile (China), Motorola (China), China Unicom (China), Microsoft (Sweden), and SHB (Sweden). Dr. Smolarski has served on the board of both private and public firms.
